Revaluation of land in the Bundaberg Region

On Wednesday 28 March 2012 Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) released new Government valuations for all land in the Bundaberg Region.  DERM has advised Ratepayers by post of their property's new valuation/s.

The Local Government Act 2009 requires Council to use new valuations to calculate property rates, however Council receives no additional rates revenue as a result of revaluation.

An increase in a property's valuation does not necessarily mean the Ratepayer's rates will increase and an explanation of  the effect of valuations on rating is provided on our Rates & Charges page»

Ratepayers can access the DERM website» where they can obtain more information.  Ratepayers have until May 28 2012, to object to DERM regarding their property revaluation.  The Department can be contacted by calling 13 74 68, by email at valuation.enquiries@derm.qld.gov.au or in person at 16-32 Enterprise Street Bundaberg.

Mosquito Survey in Gin Gin

Starting this month, Council will be inspecting for the Aedes aegypti mosquito in the Gin Gin town area. This will require Authorised officers to go house to house and inspect yards for potential breeding sites. If breeding is found a sample will be taken and the water will either be treated with a low toxicity chemical or emptied out so as to prevent further breeding.
