Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to register before attending a class?
- No! Just turn up at the relevant class location on the programmed date and 5-10 minutes early of the scheduled time and sign-in with the fitness class instructor.
Do I have to pay to attend a class?
- No! All classes in Be Active Be Alive are FREE; however you MUST pay the pool entry fee if you are attending one of the pool activity classes.
How long do classes go for?
- Each class is allocated one hour, however fitness instructors may adjust actual exercise time based on the activity type and their professional discretion of the group (most classes will have approximately 45 minutes of exercise time, or more depending on the activity).
- The allocated hour generally allows for participant sign-in, exercise, drinks breaks and a quick post-session feedback survey.
What do I need to bring to participate?
- All sessions are catered for by qualified fitness instructors who supply the fitness equipment required for their exercise classes (participants should BYO towel and/or exercise mat, particularly for yoga and pilates style classes).
- As a participant you are encouraged to:
- Bring a water bottle
- Be SunSmart (e.g. wear a hat, apply sunscreen and seek shade where possible)
- Bring a towel
- Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the relevant fitness class (remember swimming attire for pool classes!)
- Participate at your own level; everyone is different and the classes are not a competition
- Seek medical advice before participating if you have any health concerns
- Bring cash/card to cover the pool entry fee if participating in H20 (water aerobics) classes
- BYO pilates / yoga mat for relevant classes if you have one; this is optional but not essential for participation (a towel can be used if needed)
- Have a positive attitude, bring a smile and most importantly, have fun!
How do I get the latest program information (e.g. class cancellations)?
- Anyone interested in attending Be Active Be Alive classes should follow the Be Active Bundy Region Facebook page - any urgent class cancellations (due to weather, unforeseen circumstances etc.) or program updates (venue changes, rescheduled classes etc.) will be posted here as soon as possible.
- Council's Be Active Be Alive website that houses the program details will also be updated as required in due course.
Are children welcome to participate?
- All Be Active Be Alive sessions are intended for adults over the age of 18, however some parents/guardians/carers may need to bring younger children with them to allow them to participate.
- Older children under 18 are welcome to attend classes however the supervision and safety of children remains the responsibility of parents/guardians/carers and not the fitness class instructor (this includes teenagers), and the fitness class instructor will use their discretion whether the activity is suitable for the age of any relevant child(ren) attending and their subsequent participation in the class.
- Anyone participating in the classes must sign-in with the fitness class instructor, or have the sign-in process completed by a parent/guardian/carer if under the age of 18.
- For the benefit of other class participants, children should remain under close supervision so as not to disrupt the classes.
I still have more questions, who can I contact?
