Oaks Beach, Burnett Heads Weed management August 2024

Council are currently assisting local volunteers in undertaking weed management at Oaks Beach.

A combination of hand pulling, brushcutting and spraying will be used to remove the large areas of weeds across the dune area. During this time, you may notice brown patches of vegetation and large open areas where weeds have been removed.

Care will be taken to ensure retention of existing native dune vegetation.

These works have been endorsed by the Department of Environment, Science and Innovation (DESI)'s marine turtle expert.

The beach will remain open during these works however the community are requested to keep off the dune.
