Visiting a waste facility

Make your trip to the tip easy - before you leave home:

  1. Be aware of opening hours, disposal fees and waste acceptance at your local facility.
  2. Separate your recyclable and waste products. Group similar items together.
  3. Sort your load and pack your vehicle or trailer for when you get to the waste facility. Recyclables should be unloaded first, then green waste, and general waste last.
  4. Bring help - consider taking an extra person with you to help with heavier items.

Make sure you comply with the following when visiting a Council waste facility:

  • follow staff directions and signage
  • declare your load correctly
  • your load may be inspected(PDF, 190KB)
  • enclosed shoes only
  • children and pets must remain in the vehicle
  • no smoking or vaping
  • unlawful entry, scavenging or salvaging is prohibited
  • ensure your load is correctly secured
