Deb is the Councillor for Division 3, covering western areas of the region including Gin Gin, South Kolan, Wallaville and Bucca.
Deb was born and raised in the United Kingdom, growing up in the countryside town of Devon where she met and married her husband, Ian.
Seeking a rural lifestyle, Deb and Ian boarded a plane 16 years ago to start the next chapter in their life in Australia, eventually buying land at McIlwraith, just outside of Gin Gin which is now their home.
Prior to entering Council in 2024, Deb’s career has been community focused. In the UK, she worked to improve the living standards of those living under the poverty line in some of the most deprived areas in Scotland.
After emigrating, Deb worked as a community visitor, looking out and advocating for those with impaired decision-making abilities.
Deb has a deep-seated commitment to the community and of giving back. She is a qualified Justice of the Peace.
When making decisions on behalf of Division 3 in the Council Chamber, Deb always has the welfare of the community front of mind. Deb proudly advocates for transparency and honesty.
As the Council’s Finance Portfolio spokesperson, Deb is committed to reducing the burden on ratepayers by finding savings and efficiencies throughout the organisation and applying common sense when decision making.
