The Gracie Dixon Respite Centre welcomes members of the community to become at volunteer at one of our many programs.
The centre provides day respite to frail aged and younger people with a disability. Hacc eligible clients attend the centre Monday to Saturday between the hours of 9am - 3pm. We also provide a service in the Bargara area on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the onth. The centre operates from the Margaret Olsen Place recreation hall each Tuesday morning delivering a craft session to ladies and on Fridays to deliver a Mens group.
There are three main areas where the Centre receives assistance from Volunteers: these are in the kitchen, activities and ousekeeping. Key tasks and responsibilities for each of these areas are listed below:
Skills, experience and attributes:
• Ability to understand and follow basic directions
• Ability to communicate with staff
• Basic literacy and numeracy
• Enjoy interacting with and helping members
• Ability to work with people who are frail, aged, people who have dementia and individuals with a disability
