Bundaberg Regional Council area boasts a wide range of opportunities for both resident and visitors to access and enjoy sports and recreational activities. Within the region's boundaries there is coastal recreation, wetlands, walking trails, picnic reserves, playgrounds, bicycle networks and skate parks.
Beaches and Water Sports
Outdoor recreation is an integral part of the Bundaberg Region lifestyle. With kilometres of beachfront and water frontage, the region offers numerous water sports opportunities including sailing, boating and fishing.
Parks and Reserves
In addition to reserves and ovals for structured sporting activities the Council maintains a number of parks and reserves available to the public for picnics and functions. Whether you want to kick a football, fly a kite or just have a quiet picnic, there is a grassy open spaced area to suit your needs.
Getting Physical
For those who like their recreation with a little more zest, the Bundaberg Region accommodates approximately 280 clubs providing active sports such as athletics, netball, basketball, hockey, tennis, bowls and of course all four codes of football.

Community Pedometer Loan Scheme
During 2008 - 2009 there were two Bundaberg Region 10,000 steps Community Challenges held in our district where members of the public and workplaces were able to loan pedometers to take part in the challenge of walking 10,000 steps per day for 5 weeks. The Sport and Recreation Section of Council will continue to loan pedometers to the community through our Community Pedometer Loan Scheme. Bundaberg Regional Council residents who wish to loan a pedometer may access them via any of the following outlets: Sport and Recreation Section of Council at the School of Arts Building - next door to the Bundaberg Administration Centre, or via any of our three Service Centres at Bargara, Childers or Gin Gin during office hours. Pedometers may also be borrowed via the Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centre.
