Council owns and operates two Retirement facilities. These are the Margaret Olsen Place Units in Dr Mays Road Bundaberg; and the Kolan Centenary Seniors Village in Tirroan Road Gin Gin.
Council currently does not have any other form of housing, rental accommodation or crisis housing.
The Margaret Olsen Place facility has 36 Units and has a Recreation room for use by the village residents and has well maintained gardens, in a peaceful setting.
Margaret Olsen Place has easy access to public transport.
The complex provides independent living units and operate under provisions of the Residential Tenancies Act. Council does not provide in-home care to the residents.
The Retirement Village is classified as long term public housing, with the Queensland Department of Housing managing the Wait List for potential residents. When a vacancy occurs at the facility, Council notifies the Department of Housing. That agency then provides Council with a short-list of applicants with high need for housing accommodation. A new tenant is then selected on the basis of highest need and personal circumstances.
Council maintains all buildings lawns and gardens.
