 <title>Moore Park Beach drainage reports</title>

Detailed engineering reports, which investigate and analyse options for improving the drainage in the Murdoch’s Road area at Moore Park Beach, are available for public comment and will be presented at an Information Session next Wednesday. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
Council’s Roads and Drainage Infrastructure spokesperson Cr. Wayne Honor said during the wet seasons of 2010 and 2011, Moore Park Beach experienced significant drainage issues as a result of peak rainfall events and associated groundwater conditions.

 <title>Council mowing rosters at full capacity</title>

Current weather patterns including plenty of rain followed by hot, humid days is providing ideal grass growing conditions around the Bundaberg region. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
It also means Bundaberg Regional Council teams, including contractors, are extremely busy endeavouring to keep grassed areas, including footpaths, parks, gardens and road verges mowed. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
Council’s Health and Environmental Services spokesperson Cr. Mary Wilkinson said mowing rosters schedules are being adhered to as close as possible, although some areas are too wet and unsuitable for mowers to access.

 <title>Pest plant notification form now online</title>

Bundaberg Regional Council’s ongoing campaign to eradicate pest plants around the region has been expanded with the introduction of an online form to report suspected weed outbreaks. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
Successfully combating the spread of pest plants is dependant on Council officers knowing when and where new incursions occur and the new Suspected Weed Reporting form will assist this process. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
Council’s spokesperson for Natural Resource Management Cr. Danny Rowleson said once weeds are detected, it is important to implement control measures as early as possible.

 <title>Community Grants funding applications open</title>

Community, sporting and recreational organisations are being encouraged to apply for funding under the Bundaberg Regional Council’s Community Grants Program.

The programme offers grants of up to $5000 which enables groups to upgrade, enhance and improve their facilities and the range of activities which they offer without placing extra burden on club finances.

 <title>Rate Notices and Water Advice Notices issued</title>

Bundaberg Regional Council Rate Notices for the current half year rating period ending 30 June 2012 will be issued on Monday 13 February.

A Water Advice Notice will also be issued to residential ratepayers who have individual water meters. Non-ratepayer residents will receive a Water Advice Notice addressed to ‘The Occupier’.

 <title>Proposed Woodgate Men&#039;s Shed receives financial support from Bundaberg Regional Council</title>

Plans to establish a Men’s Shed at Woodgate Beach have received a financial boost with Bundaberg Regional Council to donate $4,700 to the group. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
At its Ordinary Meeting, Council voted unanimously to make a donation to the group.

&lt;p&gt;
Deputy Mayor and Division 2 Councillor Tony Ricciardi said Council is very supportive of the of Men’s Sheds concept and is pleased to donate the funds to help alleviate development costs associated with the construction of the proposed shed.

Recent wet weather coupled with hot and humid conditions have provided the perfect mosquito breeding conditions prompting Bundaberg Regional Council to remind residents of some simple measures to minimize the impact of the insects.

 <title>Call for Clean Up Australia Day volunteers</title>

Preparations for Australia&#039;s biggest community participation event – Clean Up Australia Day – have begun in the Bundaberg region.

This year it is hoped as many volunteers as possible will take to the streets with white and yellow bags and don their gloves to clean up the region on Sunday 4th March. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
Bundaberg Regional Council is helping to co-ordinate Clean Up Australia Day and is asking groups and individuals keen to participate to contact Council to arrange for the supply of gloves and bags and for rubbish to be picked up.

 <title>Council plays vital role in sport and recreation</title>

district to promote their activities will be held in Bundaberg on Sunday 12th February.

The Bundy&#039;s Super Sports Sign On Day is being held at the PCYC and is co-
ordinated by the Queensland Government Sport and Recreation Services with full
support from Bundaberg Regional Council.

Last year&#039;s event was the most successful in Queensland with 40 different clubs and
associations involved and more than 1000 people attending.

 <title>Tender awarded for new reservoir at the Hummock</title>

Bundaberg Regional Council has awarded a tender for the construction of a 6 ML Reservoir at The Hummock. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
Council has accepted a tender of Queensland Concrete and General Construction Co Pty Ltd to construct the reservoir which, when complete, will improve the reliability of water supply to the coastal areas. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
Council’s Water and Wastewater Infrastructure spokesperson Cr. Alan Bush said a tender of $2,175,910 was accepted.

The colour and excitement associated with Chinese New Year celebrations will be taken to the classrooms at several primary schools this week in the lead up to festivities hosted by Bundaberg Regional Council in Alexandra Park on Sunday (February 5th).

A presentation including a brief history of Chinese New Year and what the celebration means to the Chinese community will be explained to students who will also be encouraged to participate in an exciting Dragon Dance and learn some important Chinese New Year phrases.

Pet owners in the Bundaberg region will find registering their dog or cat a much simpler process following the adoption of a new system which will come into effect from next month.

 <title>Gin Gin Streetscape Project to be officially opened</title>

The new Gin Gin Streetscape Project will be officially opened on Friday (February 3rd) at a public ceremony at the Central Business District Parklands in Mulgrave Street.

The official opening will begin at 10.30 am with a tour of the streetscape at the conclusion of the ceremony. Should there be wet weather the ceremony will be held in the Gin Gin RSL Hall.

 <title>Chinese New Year Celebrations to welcome Year of the Dragon</title>

The Year of the Dragon will be welcomed in traditional fashion including dancing, a lantern parade and fireworks at the Bundaberg Regional Council Chinese New Year Celebrations on Sunday 5th February. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
A highlight of the celebrations, which will begin at 3.30 pm in Alexandra Park, will be performers direct from Nanning in China which is one of Council’s Sister Cities. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
The Nanning Cantonese Opera Troupe and Guangxi Opera Troupe performers will entertain throughout the afternoon displaying traditional Chinese dances.

 <title>Dengue mosquito eradication programme to be conducted in Gin Gin</title>

Control measures to ensure the Gin Gin township is free of potential Aedes aegypti
mosquito breeding sites will be reinforced next week when officers from Bundaberg
Regional Council and Queensland Heath conduct house to house inspections and a
&amp;quot;defend against dengue&amp;quot; community education campaign in the township.
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
Officers will inspect 584 properties in the town area looking for the mosquito larvae as well
as informing people on how to prevent the insect from breeding in their own yards.

 <title>Bundaberg region&#039;s newest citizens celebrate Australia Day</title>
