Botanic Gardens Area Mosquito Control

3 Feb 2013

Fogging operations for mosquito control will be undertaken by Australian Defence Force personnel at dusk today and again at dawn tomorrow.

Bundaberg Regional Council Mayor, Cr. Mal Forman said vector control was urgently required across the region with heavy outbreaks of mosquitos already reported.

"The ADF personnel will be fogging by truck in the Botanic Gardens area and also around a campsite at in the Salter Oval area."

He said the fogging was quite harmless to humans although residents should not follow closely behind a vehicle undertaking the fogging. "If a fogging truck passes your property just move to a room isolated from the activity," said Cr. Forman.

"If any person is aware of significant ponded areas where mosquitoes may be breeding it would be appreciated if they could advise Council."

The number to report mosquito activity is 1300 883 699.
