This long weekend, Bundaberg Regional Council has all your Australia Day needs covered with numerous celebrations happening around the region.
The weekend kicks off on Friday night with the Australia Day Spirit Awards Presentation at the Civic Centre Supper Room.
Bundaberg Regional Council Mayor, Cr Mal Forman said the awards are very important in recongising the amazing work that individuals, community groups and organisations contribute to the Bundaberg region.
“Our region is blessed with many hard working high achievers and this is our chance to thank some of them,” Cr Forman said.
On Saturday January 26, the official Council celebration will be at Moore Park Beach from 7.30am to 3pm.
Community Services Portfolio spokesperson Cr Judy Peters said Council had donated funding to various community groups across the region for events but the Moore Park Bowls and Sports Club had successfully expressed and interest to host the official Australia Day Event.
“Council has funded eight events around the region which were all put in as submission and supported by Council,” she said.
