Bundaberg Regional Council’s Organisational Review has reached another milestone with the appointment of two new General Managers.
Current Director of Governance, Glenn Hart, has been appointed General Manager – Organisational Services.
The position of General Manager – Community and Environment has gone to an external applicant, Gavin Steele, who will join Bundaberg Regional Council in the near future.
Gavin has held a range of leadership roles in local government such as Brisbane City Council and Rockhampton Regional Council and is currently the GM Infrastructure and Planning at Rockhampton Regional Council, having previously been GM Regional Enterprise, GM Business Enterprises and Director of Environmental Services.
The two new General Managers join Andrew Fulton, General Manager of Planning and Infrastructure, who was appointed in December 2010.
Council continues to focus on the repositioning of the organisational structure to facilitate the delivery of the many goals and strategies identified in the long term Community Plan, Bundaberg Region 2031.
An extensive recruitment process was undertaken, with a total of 58 applicants for the two positions from across Australia, making it a very competitive process.
Council CEO Peter Byrne said it is important to recognise that Council has a new structure, moving from 5 Directors to 3 General Managers reporting to the CEO.
“Given the executive management team of Council has been reduced, several existing Directors will be leaving the organisation and I wish to acknowledge their loyalty and extensive contribution over many years to this Council and former Councils” said Mr Byrne.
“I would like to thank our three current Directors who have not been appointed to a General Manager role for their loyal and extensive contribution to staff, the Council and the community” said Mr Byrne.
