Repair work on Woodgate Road underway

21 Sep 2011

Repair work on Woodgate Road has begun and is programmed to be carried out during the next two weeks, weather permitting.

Division 2 Councillor and Deputy Mayor Tony Ricciardi said the work would be conducted in multiple locations over a 14.3 kilometre section of the road and follows damage caused by the exceptional weather events late last year and early this year.

“The reconstruction work on Woodgate Road involves specialist equipment which will cement stabilise the existing road pavement and additional gravel material will be added where necessary” Cr. Ricciardi said.

“The repairs on Woodgate Road fall under a current programme of major regional road works and is part of a $2.5 million contract awarded to RoadTek to undertake in-situ cement stabilisation works across the Bundaberg Regional Council area” Cr. Ricciardi said.

He said Council would be claiming Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements funding for the work.

The work will be carried out under traffic and motorists can expect some delays and are asked to comply with the speed and road works signage displayed.

Cr. Ricciardi said once repairs on Woodgate Road are completed work will commence on Knockroe Road while a construction crew will soon be moving to Buxton to upgrade the road and drainage in Hume Street.

Meanwhile Council is currently installing a storm water drainage culvert to take storm water through an easement from Macrossan Street to Nelson Street in Childers.
