Bundaberg Regional Council is encouraging the public's input on ways to improve the region, with "Bright Ideas" Suggestion Boxes being set up at shopping centres around the region.
The first of Council's "Bright Ideas" boxes is now set up at Hinkler Central Shopping Centre in Bundaberg.
Governance Portfolio Councillor, David Batt, said it was a good opportunity for people to make a real contribution. "Lots of people have good ideas, but sometimes find it hard to get those ideas to Council. We're setting up these boxes in busy areas like shopping centres to make it as easy as possible for people to get involved" Cr Batt said.
The boxes will be cleared weekly and all suggestions put into Council's Customer Request Management System where it will be logged, given a request number, tracked and monitored.
"If people put their contact details on the form we'll get back to them with the request number and give them feedback on their idea" Cr Batt said.
Shoppers are invited to inspect the "Bright Ideas" box - at the top of the Travelators near the Food Court at Hinkler Central Shopping Centre. Hinkler Central marketing manager Elysia Billingham said this was an exciting opportunity for Hinkler Central shoppers to have their say about the Bundaberg region.
"The feedback we receive on a centre level in invaluable in helping us plan our future direction for providing shoppers with the retail environment they want. Being able to take it another step to ask for feedback on improving their region is a great initiative" Ms Billingham said.
"We thank Hinkler Central for being so enthusiastic about the idea and offering us such a high profile position. We hope to have more set up throughout the region in 2010" Cr Batt said.
