The Woodgate Beach Amenities and Picnic Shelters have taken out a major
architecture Award.
The Leisure Precinct took out the 2009 Queensland
Architecture Award for "Small Project Architecture" on behalf of Fulton Trotter
Architects.
Mayor Lorraine Pyefinch
said it was a great result. "We are delighted that this project, funded by Bundaberg
Regional Council, has taken out such a prestigious award.
In the Jury Citations the following comments were
made: "This group of buildings is a good example of how sensitive design can
enhance even the most rudimentary of public buildings".
The Leisure Precinct, made up of an "open plan"
amenities block and picnic shelters, has received many favourable comments
since being completed last year by Council.
The project is now in the running for the National
Awards, to be held in Melbourne
later in the year.
