Fiction Alley (Harry Potter)

Have you ever got to the end of a book, and thought to yourself -"I wish the author had done this or that with the plot"?. Apparently a lot of people have had those thoughts and more about J.K.Rowling's Harry Potter series - and they've done something about it!

The website Fiction Alley is totally dedicated to all things Potter, and is one of the biggest fan fiction sites around, with over 32,000 stories, novels and chapters about Harry Potter. In addition, a section called Leaky Cauldron is, aptly enough, a melting pot of all the latest gossip, rumours and facts about new Harry Potter films and novels.

In the spirit of Rowling, Fiction Alley is divided into four Houses - Schnoogle posts novel-length stories; Astronomy Tower has romance fiction; The Dark Arts contains dramatic stories, mysteries and anything remotely serious; and for those who like a laugh, try Riddilkulus.

If you've ever wondered when Harry Potter was going to get a girlfriend, worry no more, because AmethystPhoenix has it all under control. Her story "Ron Weasley, Official Gryffindor Matchmaker" (Astronomy Tower - G), has Ron determined to sort out Harry's love life with the help of Harry's long-time foe, Draco Malfoy. For something a bit lighter, try "The Fourth Unforgiveable" (Riddikulus- PG13). This story is set during Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts, and He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named has used That-Which-Will-Not-Be-Named for reasons that we just can't say aloud! Confused? Read the story and find out... A word of warning - while the majority of these stories are aimed at children and teens, check out the Rating given to each story before you open it - there are a few 'R' rated examples mixed in with the others.

This site is more than just a huge collection of creative stories - it also has an educational side to it. Click on to Lumos Dissendium, which is the site for helpful tips, articles and story ideas for new and struggling writers of creative fiction. Bestselling author Diana Gabaldon has written a number of articles, ranging from the right way to write, to hints about forming chapters. If your talents lie more in the visual direction, Fiction Alley also has a site for fan art - scan your drawings and send them in to ArtisticAlley, there are literally thousands of pieces already posted.

No matter what your tastes are - gossip, news, stories, hints or art - FictionAlley has something for every Harry Potter fan. Check it out soon.
