Graded Reading Schemes
These schemes are designed to progress from very basic word recognition and sentence structure,
through complex sentences and punctuation. The levels increase in complexity, and offer a number
of titles in each section.
Use for: basic reading instruction, English as second language, and remedial/ refresher literacy books.

Audio Resources
Audio resources can be used as aids for learning disability students, for students who are learning
English as a second language, and as aids in reading programs.
Kindergarten to Primary Level

Picture books and children's novels read on to tapes. Listeners follow the story in the accompanying
book.

Audio Books
Usually the unabridged (in full) story read on to a number of tapes. Text is more complex than
Book and Tape kits.
Secondary to Adult Level

Audio Books for Adults
A collection of books read onto tape by actors, etc. Ranging from bestselling fiction to self-help
titles and popular non-fiction. Usually unabridged (in full).
Books on CD
A series of classics on single or double CD. Usually abridged (condensed).
Basic Grammar Resources
Books on basic grammar and punctuation can be used as aids in developing literacy, specifically
writing skills.
