• QLD Divorces
  An index to divorce files from the Supreme Court of Queensland. It covers roughly 1861-1899, however, contains very limited information - just a name and reference number. More information can be obtained for a fee.

• NSW Divorces
  Currently contains records from 1873-1911. More will be added. You need to pay a fee to obtain full details.

• TAS Divorces
  Click on "Name Indexes" in menu at left, then on "Divorces". The index covers 1861-1920. Contains names, year, and reference number. Copies of the full records can be obtained for a fee.

• QLD Archives - Assisted Immigration
  Go to the Indexes section of the web site to see an Index to Assisted Immigration 1848-1884 and an Index to Assisted Immigration 1884-1912.

• Assisted Immigrants Arriving in Sydney, Newcastle, Moreton Bay and Port Phillip
  Arrival records of assisted immigrants arriving in these ports from mid to late 1800s. Other indexes also available at this site.

• AUSNZ Passenger Lists
  Information on the passengers on migrant ships.

• Ancestors On Board
  A database of outgoing passengers from the United Kingdom. Will cover 1890-1960, but so far they have digitised records from 1890-1909. It is free to search and see basic information, but you will need to register and pay for further detail. From the National Archives of England.

• Australian National Shipwreck Database

• Mariners and Ships in Australian Waters

• Australian Association for Maritime History
  Vaughan Evans has indexed pictures of ships which appeared in three newspapers - Illustrated London News (1842-1891), Australasian Sketcher (1873-1889), and Illustrated Sydney News (1853-1889). If you find an entry of interest, the National Library of Australia may be able to provide a copy from the newspaper (for a fee).

• World War 2 Nominal Roll
  Search by name, service number, honours or place to find name and enlistment details for those Australians who served in World War II.

• Commonwealth War Graves Commission
  An index to the 1.7 million men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died during the two world wars. Also lists the 67,000 Commonwealth civilians who died as a result of enemy action.

• British Convict Transportation Registers 1787-1867
  The State Library of Queensland has compiled this database from British Home Office records which are held on microfilm. Includes approx. 123,000 of the 160,000 convicts transported to Australia in the 18th and 19th centuries. Includes names, term of years, transport ship, etc.

• NSW Convict Records
  A half-dozen or so different indexes relevant to NSW convicts.

• Irish Transportation Database 1791-1868
  An index of convicts transported from Ireland to Australia between 1791-1868.

  Over 25,000 interments dating from the 1850s. Preston is in suburban Melbourne.

• Toowoomba Cemeteries
  The "Grave Finder" link will allow you to search the registers for Toowoomba and Drayton cemeteries.

• Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park
  Sydney. You can search the cemetery or the memorial park (crematorium).

• Hawkesbury Cemeteries
  West of Sydney. An ongoing project to transcribe the cemeteries in the area for inclusion on the Web.

• Newspaper Digitisation Program (Beta): Historic Australian Newspapers 1803-1954
  The National Library of Australia has begun digitising some Australian newspapers. The project is still in its infant stages and the database currently contains only a small amount of information. However, you will find some issues of papers such as The Argus, The Courier-Mail, The Mercury and The Perth Gazette and Western Australian Journal. Read the About section of the web site for more information about the project and its coverage.

• Australian Periodical Publications 1840/1845
  Part of the Australian Cooperative Digitisation Project. You can search or browse titles such as The Adelaide independent and cabinet of amusement (Adelaide, 1841), Fisher's colonial magazine and commercial maritime journal (London, 1842-1843), and The satirist and sporting chronicle (Sydney, 1843).

• Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) Archives
  Coverage: Jan 1955 to Dec 1990. Requires subscription to view article in full.
