Baby Time is an 8 week program run throughout the year for young children aged between 6 - 24 months. Parents must enrol for the program.
Storytelling sessions have traditionally been aimed at 3 - 5 year olds, after all, they are at least old enough to comprehend a story, unlike very young children.

Think again...there is a quiet revolution going on in Libraries around the world, and storytelling sessions are being aimed at the smallest borrowers in the Library - the babies.

Bundaberg Library introduced a new program in 2006 - Baby Time. It is an 8 week program aimed at parents with young children between 6 - 24 months. Youth Services staff sit with parents and their babies, and teach fingerplays, simple rhymes and songs (click on link to right).

During Baby Time, a selection of soft toys, fingerpuppets and games are provided to amuse and enthrall the babies. Any toys which are particularly popular can be easily purchased by parents for their home, as all these items are sourced locally.

Parents are also shown library resources that may help with entertaining and developing their parenting skills, such as CDs, DVDs, magazines and books, and are given a booklet about the reading stages of babies.

Note:
A storytelling session for older children aged 2+, is held on Tuesday mornings from 11.00 - 11.45am, and no bookings are necessary. Click here for more information.

Bundaberg Library has a fully appointed Parents Room, with armchair, change tables and sink, for parents who may need to feed or change their babies while on the premises.
