Crush Festival 2011
The second annual Lighthouse Festival is on track to shine with plenty of entertainment and highlights for everyone to enjoy on October 29.
The Lighthouse Festival attracted in excess of 5000 visitors to Burnett Heads in 2010 with many applauding the variety and affordability that made it such a success.

You can book the kids into a free day of activities on Saturday 22 October.

The CRUSH Festival is the Bundaberg Region’s annual month-long festival showcasing best regional arts practice.
There is over 40 arts and culture events spanning art exhibitions, movie
under the stars, local gig showcase, Jazz on the Burnett River Queen,
workshops and exhibitions, childrens activities amongst many others.
QR Codes have been used on bus advertising, packaging, music festival programmes and a French man even has had one tattooed on his chest! And soon they will be making their way into the Bundaberg Region for the CRUSH Festival this October.
The integration of this Smartphone application will allow visitors to easily scan the code and view information on programming event locations, view teaser campaigns and easily visit the Festival's social media sites.
Bundy Busk is the first event off the CRUSH Festival calendar for 2011 on Saturday 01 October and is still looking for more participants to take part and a share in the $1000 prize money on offer.
Andrea Bax, Youth Development Officer at Bundaberg Regional Council said there has been some interest but more participants are needed for the competition on Saturday.
The Bundaberg Pottery Group is gearing up for the CRUSH Festival, preparing and glazing their pots utilising traditional Raku firing techniques at the Walker Street Craft Centre today.
Carmen Maybanks, Treasurer from the Bundaberg Pottery Group said the pots being fired today will be put into the Bundaberg Arts Festival and some will be competition pots in the 36th Annual Wide Bay Burnett Pottery Association Spectrum convention as part of the CRUSH Festival.
The Bundaberg Sugar Bundaberg Arts Festival Gala will kick off the 2011 CRUSH Festival on Saturday 1st October at the Bundaberg Civic Centre with gourmet nibbles, refreshments and entertainment.
This years event includes a preview exhibition of the arts festival entries in 22 categories including fine arts, photography, textile and literature.
Bundaberg Arts Festival Event Coordinator Lili Thompson said the program for the 2011 gala evening was an innovation aiming to introduce a wider range of arts including theatre, performance and music.
Bundaberg Regional Council is seeking volunteers for the CRUSH Festival and an Arts and Cultural Conference coming up in October 2011.
CRUSH is a Bundaberg Regional Council event celebrating regional arts. 2011 is the third year of the festival which has grown from strength to strength. In 2010, more than 17,000 people attended the month long program with 19% of those coming from out of town.
Petrina McDonald and her 8 year old daughter Thea, have been involved as volunteers for the three years that CRUSH has been running.

The CRUSH Festival was born out of a year-‐long community consultation which wanted to see an event which allowed the arts sector to market the best regional arts practice to other regions and encourage visitation to the Bundaberg Region in the month of October.
Now in it’s third year, the CRUSH Festival has over 40 events in the 2011 program and also will encompass the biennial Artspoken: Arts Queensland Regional Arts & Culture Conference as part of the program this year.
The CRUSH festival is heading into it’s third year and has a program looking more juicy than ever with the best regional arts practice showcased in Bundaberg for the whole month of October.
Some of the big name events on the bill are the Artspoken Arts Queensland regional arts and culture conference, Jazz on the Burnett River Queen, Sydney Travelling Film Festival and the Bundaberg Arts Festival.
