Position: Human Resources Officer

 

Location: Bundaberg

 

Employment Type:  Permanent, full time

 

Level: 4-5

 

Remuneration: Salary $56,331 - $61,844 (depending on skills and experience), Three-weekly RDO's and 12% Superannuation.

 

Industrial Instruments: Bundaberg Regional Council Employees Enterprise Bargaining Certified Agreement 2008; Queensland Local Government Officers' Award 1998.

 

The Position:

The focus of this position is to provide high quality professional advice and support to the organisation using contemporary HR practices, ensuring statutory compliance while also being flexible and responsive to organisational needs.

This position is key to driving HR strategy throughout the organisation and engaging at management level to provide support and coaching to ensure best practice HR principles are achieved. The position includes development, implementation and improvement of HR systems, policies and procedures guided by best practice.

The position provides a high level of assistance to the Human Resources Manager and must have a thorough understanding of contemporary HR issues and assist in developing innovative and flexible ways to promote the HR function within Council.  When required, will provide advice to employees within established policies and procedures.

The position assists with job evaluation, job design and identification of training needs; development and oversight of position descriptions; identifying and establishing training opportunities within Council and project work.

 

Selection Criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in relevant area and/or demonstrated ability to provide HR support and solutions for a mid sized organisation to fulfil the role purpose of the position.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a team in a professional and positive manner with the ability to be tactful, discrete and maintain confidentiality when dealing with matters of a sensitive nature.
  3. Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and workflows utilising a high level of initiative and using Council's desktop software packages where appropriate. 
  4. High level of interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and present a customer focussed approach to people at all levels within the public and private sectors, to ensure the effective dissemination of HR issues and solutions to the whole organisation.
  5. Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of technical support including the utilisation of desktop software applications for the timely and accurate presentation of correspondence, reports, tables, policy documents and electronic slide presentations.
  6. Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation and Industrial Awards and apply contemporary HR policies and Industrial Agreements.
