Wide Bay Burnett cluster development & business matching project

Under the Centres of Enterprise initiative, the Queensland Government has committed to maximising the regional business won by Wide Bay Burnett firms from major projects and new markets.  This Cluster Development and Business Matching Project undertakes key activities contained in the Wide Bay Burnett Engineering Machinery & Equipment Manufacturing Centre of Enterprise Action Plan, and this project was endorsed and approved by the Associate Director General, Mark Bermingham, in July 2011.

The principal aim of this project is for Wide Bay Burnett companies to capitalise on supply chain opportunities from major projects and new markets, enabling companies to realise the benefits of working together collaboratively to win new customers, capture new business and break into new markets.  By strengthening partnerships, developing business clusters and targeting specific new markets for expansion, the industry as a whole will have the capacity to grow significantly.

The objective of the Cluster Development and Business Matching project is to:
  • Prepare companies to take advantage of existing and planned infrastructure, mining and other major projects;
  • Support companies to strengthen their capacities and capabilities; and
  • Forge practical alliances/joint ventures in order for companies to bid and secure major contracts and break into new local, national and international markets.
This project is designed to:
  • Create and sustain jobs in the Wide Bay Burnett region;
  • Improve business profitability and success of firms in the Wide Bay Burnett region; and
  • Strengthen the regional economy in the Wide Bay Burnett.
