A flood recovery project, funded through Priority Skills Development, has provided much needed business support to more than 150 Queensland tourism businesses after what has been a difficult year for the tourism industry.
To combat and assist impacted tourism businesses, the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC), with the assistance of Skills Queensland, is providing practical business development skills to assist with recovery and long-term sustainability.
The ‘Take it all in my Stride’ program is a 12 month business support program running through until May 2012, to re-invigorate and innovate tourism operators through a series of workshops, online webinars, one-on-one coaching and practical business resource tools. QTIC received $497,500 through the Priority Skills Development Fund to deliver the Take it all in my Stride program. QTIC CEO Daniel Gschwind said the tourism industry had suffered significant impact from this year’s natural disasters and resulting perception issues.
“This program has been designed to help all Queensland tourism operators re-focus their businesses through tailored practical support and individual advisory assistance”. After now attending the innovation and business planning session, participants will also receive support on e-business, finance, and implementation of crisis management processes.
Additional participants and businesses are able to join the support program and are encouraged to contact QTIC on 07 3236 1445 or can contact Bundaberg Regional Council's Jobs & Skills Development Officer Mrs Jo Cooper on 1300 883 699.
